I could not reproduce this issue.
Could you connect to PostgreSQL using "pgpool" user and password "password1".
Could you share the following information to reproduce this issue?
- pgpool.conf
- pool_hba.conf
- passwords.conf
- pg_hba.conf
- PostgreSQL version and Pgpool-II version
- the command to set password for pgpool user
