[pgpool-general: 4426] Too Many open files

I'm noticing this error daily in pgpool.log

2016-02-09 13:15:52: pid 26658: ERROR:  failed to accept user connection
2016-02-09 13:15:52: pid 26658: DETAIL:  accept on socket failed with error : "Too many open files"
2016-02-09 13:15:52: pid 26658: FATAL:  unable to get session context

I did a google search which found bug fix for this error in versions 3.3.4, 3.2.9, 3.1.12, and 3.0.16

I'm using verions pgpool-II 3.4.0 which you would think this bug would not be in the version.

Server Ubuntu 14.4
PostgreSQL 9.4.5
